The Simple beads are the smallest of the creations here, and serve as an introduction to the bead making technique. Glass is wound around a clay-covered mandrel end and constantly rotated to form an even shape. Other colours can be applied, as here with the the multilayered dot bead (left) and the swirled strands bead (right). I made a third bead, transparent with millefiori, but it apparently cooled too much before entering the kiln as it cracked it half when I went to remove it from the mandrel.
